Welcome to our annual holiday show where we bring you Christmas songs from East and West.  This year certainly has been one for the history books.  Almost a year ago today, Mohamed Bouazizi, a fruit vendor from Tunisia, set himself on fire and ignited the flames of freedom across the Middle East and North Africa.  The Revolutions in Tunisia, Egypt, Libya, Syria, and Yemen toppled ruthless dictatorships and inspired people around the world, including the Occupy movement.  The world continues to transform, and the underlying lesson is that we are all alike.  We all have the same fears, desires, and aspirations.  As demonstrators dismantle the barriers of inequality one protest at a time, we are proud to be a part of this renaissance, bringing the world together one note at a time.  From all of us at Radio MAQAM®: Happy Holidays!
